Breeding 101
I made two sets of experiment to feed my curiosity about monster breeding. The finding was quite fascinating and i want to share it with you. I hope this section will answer most questions about monster breeding. The experiments was involving Chubby Gloop, Peep-Eyed Gloop, and Boxy Gloop. I used my Chubby Gloop to produce fifteen eggs each from Peep-Eyed Gloop and Boxy Gloop making the total of 30 eggs. The maximum number of eggs that incubator can handle is 10 eggs so every time my incubator full, i had to discard and gave away some Gloop eggs. Also, each monster can only produce 3 eggs maximum so i need to give it Star Sparkles to produce more eggs. Sounds mean isn't it? Forcing a being to keep reproducing...
The first set of experiment was to breed my Chubby Gloop with Peep-Eyed Gloop. From fifteen eggs they produced i got: 3 Peep-Eyed Gloop eggs, 11 Chubby Gloop eggs, and 1 Boxy Gloop egg (the 3rd egg). I kinda suprised that breeding can produce new sub-type of monster even though the percentage was really low. From this result i decided to continue with another eperiment.
The second set of experiment was to breed my Chubby Gloop with Boxy Gloop. From fifteen eggs they produced i got: 6 Chubby Gloop eggs, 6 Boxy Gloop eggs, 1 Peep-Eyed Gloop egg, and 2 Squiggly Gloop eggs (the 2nd and the 8th egg). From breeding Chubby Gloop and Boxy Gloop, another new sub-type of monster emerged.
The image below help summarising the breeding result:
A+A = A 90%; Others 10% or maybe less. (also applied for B,C and D)
Apparently breeding same sub-type of monster could result in different sub-type of monster! One Monster Pet Shop fan, Habona, tipped me about this information. Driven by curiosity, i decided to take another experiment. Since im about to run out all of my Monster Berries, i ask my wife nicely to do the experiment for me (yes, my wife plays MPS). She did A+A and the result was not A. Could be B C or D.. We don't know yet because we have not incubate the egg.
A+B = A 20%; B 73%; C 7%
B+C = A 7%; B 40%; C 40%; D 13%
In conclusion, breeding different sub-type of monsters could produce a new sub-type of monster. The only problem is, the chance is fairly low.
NOTE: Those figures are based own my own research. There is a high probability that you will get different results. Feel free to conduct your own experiment.
SOME OTHER INFO ABOUT BREEDING
TIPS FROM KT TURNER
A couple monsters ago during the breeding I accidentally hit one monster with my finger and it started to cry and the breeding failed. The next time I tried petting both monsters and it made them happy so they would breed. I've tried it a couple of times and it seemed to work but would like for someone else to try petting them during the process to see if it works or if it is just in my head. Thanks!!
I personally have tried this and it worked! Some other players are also happy with the result. Although its not working all the time but apparently it reduces the number of failure significantly. You should give it a try ;)
LUCK
When it comes to breeding, luck plays important role. Sometimes you will find yourself in a good situation where you only need just one try to get an egg from your monster. But OFTEN you will find yourself in unfortunate situations where you need several tries before you get just one egg. There is no formula to get an egg in one try. This is why breeding can be a very tricky and costly thing to do.
MY MONSTER WON'T BREED
You have three breeding partners to select for you monster. However, if none of them want to mate with your monster, you need to try and try again. It doesn't matter if you choose the same or different breeding partner for each try because eventually you will hit a success. You need to spend a certain amount of gold for each try. That is why breeding can be costly.
You can also perform in-house breeding for your monster if you have two monsters with the same type (regardless sub-type) at your shop for free.
COLOUR RESULT
New egg from breeding will have the same colour as it's parents. Lets say you breed PINK monster and ORANGE monster, there is a fifty-fifty chance that you will get PINK or ORANGE egg.

ReplyDeleteTo xwhit3yx: Hello there! I might suggest FB as well if you are looking for friends on MPS. There are plenty of glitches for Game Center making your friends don't show up on the map.
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteIf I were to do in-house breeding, would the baby breeding partner be max out (3 eggs) together with the mature monster?
Hello again Zac! Nope, you will have 6 eggs in total ;)
ReplyDeleteis there anyone want to tell me how to get Squidge egg? have been had the request from Boesly since level 7, still did not get the egg until now, level 9. Thx
ReplyDeleteDon't forget, if you have two of the same family of monsters in your shop, you can breed them for FREE!
ReplyDeleteA couple monsters ago during the breeding I accidentally hit one monster with my finger and it started to cry and the breeding failed. The next time I tried petting both monsters and it made them happy so they would breed. I've tried it a couple of times and it seemed to work but would like for someone else to try petting them during the process to see if it works or if it is just in my head. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteI want to let you know to never use the clock changing cheat!! If you do this it does make the cycle quicker, but you will not like the consequence. The consequence is that your shop turns purple and friends are not aloud to access your shop!! Please believe me because I have experienced this and it still hasn't gone away.
ReplyDeletehey i had to change the time because i travelled and there was a time difference. does that mean my shop will turn purple?
Deleteand il have to change it back to normal time again
Man how can I have a mouse chuffle
DeleteHi Gege! Now that's an honest confession lol. But seriously, that was a great input for other players. Thank you for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteIt's my pleasure!!! I just hope it goes away!! Your blog is awesome because our post about quest helps me plan ahead with my monsters!! Thanks for adding me! :)
ReplyDeleteTo KT Turner: That is a thing that worth trying. I'll try it and i'll let you know the result. Thank you for sharing ;)
ReplyDelete@KTurner, I have tried petting both of the monster and it works! Your brilliant! ;)
ReplyDeleteI've tried tapping my monsters during breeding once I see them having the unhappy face and it works too, thought I would share :) (Usually only works when my own monster is unhappy though)
ReplyDeleteI'm happy it worked for you! And I'm happy it wasn't all in my head :-)
ReplyDeleteIt works! Thanks again ;)
ReplyDeleteHow do I choose which monster to breed cause when. I click make egg it only gives me the same kind of monster for choices
ReplyDeleteFor example I choose a curly tuckle to breed and the only choices I have are different colored curly tuckle
No you cant choose. Unless you have different sub-type monster, but same type, in your shop that you are currently breeding.
ReplyDeleteHai, ur blog are helping me so much, here I want to know
ReplyDeleteCurrently I want to breed a chubby krakel , but when I
Click make egg, it only appear skinny krakel as breeding partner,
How can I make my chubby krakel produce chubby krakel egg?
This is really helpful!
ReplyDeleteI never knew you could get a different sub type of monster from breeding different monsters!!!
Thanks.
Awesome blog!
ReplyDeleteAnd to the Anonymous Post about Chubby Krakel breeding:
I experienced the same problem. I had customer request for a Chubby Krakel and during maturity processes received about 11 egg requests for this monster from friends. When breeding Time came all 3 breeding parteners where skinny krakels which produced....3 skinny krakels!! Soo disappointed I sold the chubby krakell but still determined to fill requests. After searching forums etc,and not finding any info on what to do I bought the chubby Krakel egg from monsterpedia and started process again.I was sure this would give me the chubby krakel eggs....WRONG! Three more skinny Krakel partners and three more skinny eggs! Again sooo disappointed but then I got smart and instead of selling my mature chubby Krakel I held onto it until I found another chubby krakel egg and when it reached maturity I was able to choose the other chubby Krakel in my shop as the breeding partner (for free too, which is always a bonus) And the resulting eggs.......3 chubby krakels :) and lucky for me by the time It took me to fiqure this all out most of the egg requests from friends had expired so I had just enough lol and a 10 egg incubator full of skinny krakels ;-)
can you make post about how to get the different colors? like azure, light blue etc?
ReplyDeletehow to breed a chubby tuckle? pls help!
ReplyDeleteThe new kind of monster is the tumper
ReplyDeletei already have all 4!! subspecies :)
i'll send u the pictures if you want ;)
I would like to see them (Not trying to be stalkerish)
DeleteHey can u mate with friends' monsters? If so, how? Abby.
ReplyDeleteI have three tickle eggs in my incubator that have exclamation marks over them. I click on them and it only shows the normal option to incur the eggs. Why r they there?
ReplyDeleteSorry if this has been answered already.
ReplyDeleteWhen you first go to breed, and you have three options, I know those options stay the same the next few times I check.
My question is, does it change the next day or something? Or is it always the same three options?
Thanks,
Ladyisabellemae
I have a few questions. Yesterday I had a "pointy peeper" and a "boxy peeper" grown to full maturity. However, when I tried to breed the boxy, I didn't get a choice of breeding to another boxy. Just 3 peepers for money or my peeper for free. So, I bred them both and out of 6 eggs, I did get one boxy. The rest were peepers. Why didn't I get a choice to breed a boxy with another boxy?
ReplyDeleteAlso, do you know where we can chat with each of our Monster friends? I would like to let them what I have in my nursery/incubator or ask them for different items.
And finally, does the price go down if you have bred your monster 3 times? I noticed that Tawny wanted my boxy, but I hadn't bred it yet. So, I asked her for more. She left. Then when I bred my boxy, she came back but offered me about 15 coins less.
Thank you for letting us know about the "petting" to help the monsters breed. That has really helped me. This entire blog is wonderful. Thank you for putting it together and keeping up with it.
Guys, add me up in Game Center!

ReplyDeleteMy progned Anolly do not breed :( It says that the breeding time is 45d and 12h. But the time isnt winding down....

Deletewaneology i just found out if you ask a friend for e.g a bowed polygol and u have a squigly one there is a 950% chance to get a bowed polygol p.s if anyone needs a polygol terabear[still egg] tumper[the same]add me suh110 ;))
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean by in house breeding?
ReplyDeleteOkay: a couple things.First, what is mutation breeding? And second, the patting the monster on the belly idea is a good idea, but I tried it three times in a row on my horned Steve and it made it unhappy so I didn't get the egg.Not trying to be mean though.:)
ReplyDeleteIts when you breed monsters with the same species with either the same or different subtypes. For example, if i breed a stripped chuffle with another stripped chuffle, it has about 10% chance to produce horned chuffle. The same thing goes if you breed monsters with different subtypes. For example, if i breed a bunny eared chuffle and a horned chuffle, it will have a chance to produce a stripped chuffle.
DeleteI NEED NEW FRIENDS LIKE NOW!!!

ReplyDeleteI have been trying to breed a chubby krakel from other types of krakel. After over 90 tries, i have coned, hammerhead, and skinny krakels but no chubby krakels. What the heck?
ReplyDeletesame here, except i didnt try many times i just got a hammerhead but my friend got a chubby krakel
Deleteif you breed tuckles, you most likely to get different types of tuckles
ReplyDeleteI have lots of eggs. GC is llyndrael
ReplyDeleteWait how do you even breed two different types of monsters?
ReplyDeleteIt's the same type of monster the difference is the sub type. For example, a stripped chuffle and a horned chuffle is considered as the same species since they fall into the chuffle category. The obvious difference is the subtype
DeleteOn a droid can u add friends without fb? And how to inhouse breed?
ReplyDeleteSadly, you cannot. Regarding housebreed, if you have the same species of monster (doesnt matter if it has any subtypes) you can breed them for free.
DeleteThe A+A=10% worked for me... Stripey Chuffle+Stripey Chuffle = Horned Chuffle
ReplyDeleteIt's legendary :-)
I play on my galaxy s3 I am lvl 15 I have a ipad now can I change my account to my ipad. I have a good game going but no friends lol not looking to goto fb. Thanks
ReplyDeleteHey Garret, we are about the same level. My Game Center I.D is tui17tui add me so we can help each other out. Bye
DeleteI see people talking about gamecenter accounts, but when I try to add friends it only connects to facebook, is facebook the only way to have friends on this game, I don't have a facebook account but I do have gamecenter account, any info on this.
ReplyDeleteThe newest update only allows you to add people on facebook which is pretty stupid in itself.
DeleteApparently, if you reach level 14, your game glitches and doesnt open. Has anyone here using an android device got passed level 14 and can still open their game? Sorry for the unrelated question.
ReplyDeleteHow do you get albino monsters? add me xfactorrox
